Biggest Mistakes I've Seen: The Biggest Mindset Mistake
The Biggest Mindset Mistake
People train for a race.
A dream weight.
A vacation.
A wedding.
There's nothing wrong with any of those goals. In fact, I encourage them.
The problem is when people treat those goals like the finish line.
As a trainer, this is one of the biggest mindset mistakes I see.
When I take on a new client, I'm not looking for the fastest way to lose 20 pounds. I'm looking for lifelong solutions, not quick, unsustainable answers. Anyone can follow a strict plan for a few weeks. That's not what changes your life.
I tell my clients this all the time:
"Goals are milestones, not finish lines."
I want every habit we build together to have a purpose beyond a single date on the calendar.
That's why I constantly ask myself and my clients one simple question:
"Could you keep this habit for the rest of your life? And just as importantly, would you want to?"
If the answer is no, we need a better plan.
Because the biggest benefits of exercise don't come from a 12 week challenge. They come from years of showing up.
Over time, consistency leads to:
Lower risk of chronic disease
Better metabolic health
More energy throughout the day
A stronger body
A longer, healthier life
Train for the race.
Chase the dream weight.
Enjoy the vacation.
Just remember that those goals are only milestones.
The real goal is building a lifestyle that you'll still enjoy five, ten, and twenty years from now.
